Sleepers are Mutations which are wall-mounted and will abruptly attack any Cleaner within range.
Overview[]
Sleeper slighty moving its arm when disturbed by Cleaners.
Sleepers are completely immobile and can be found fixed to walls and other vertical surfaces. Their only attack is to swiftly pounce on any Cleaner that enters their line of attack, thereby pinning them down and incapacitating them. They are among the quietest of the Ridden due to their small size and tendency to appear in low-visibility locations, such as in small rooms, poorly-lit areas and around corners. However, they are also very easy to kill and have the lowest health in the game, even less than Common Ridden.
Strategy[]
- Stay alert:
The best method to prevent a Sleeper attack is to stay observant of the surroundings. Any location with walls has a chance for a Sleeper to be on it, so players have to remain vigilant and, if they spot a Sleeper, shoot at it from afar; a single bullet is all it takes. While relatively quiet, the Sleeper does make some guttural noises to subtly announce its location, so players should be on high alert if they hear it nearby. - Hone your reflexes:
If a player's reflexes are quick, they can shoot a Sleeper while it's airborne to put it down. It's a very specific skill to develop, but a fairly useful one to practice if players want to save themselves or their teammates from an abrupt pounce. - Stick together, or bring a Stun Gun:
If players plan on roaming a fair distance away from the team, they have to make sure that they're equipped to encounter a Sleeper. If a player doesn't have a Stun Gun or Breakout skill available, and if their teammates aren't around to break them free, the Sleeper will have easy prey. - Conserve ammo:
Don't waste ammo or any offensive accessory on a Sleeper, as its base health is very low. Switch to a secondary weapon to kill it from afar or melee it.
