Back 4 Blood Wiki

The Reeker is a tough melee attacker with no weakspot. When they deal damage, their Frenzy attack speed increases. On death they explode covering nearby Cleaners in a slowing Pus.

Reeker description

The Reekers are bloated mutated zombies. They belong to the Reeker family of the Ridden, which also include the Exploder, Retch, and Shredder variants. All Reeker variants feature a morbidly-inflated body that explodes on death, leading to disastrous effects for any Cleaner unfortunate enough to be caught in it.

Official description:[]

Large slow moving Ridden. They explode on death, knocking cleaners back and covering them in sticky pus. Take these guys out from a distance, their weak point is right in the belly.

Overview:[]

All Reeker variants can be effective at close range and confined spaces, each with access to a melee attack and a death explosion.

The Reeker is a close-ranged attacker that creates an explosion upon death which covers nearby victims in a sticky ooze that obscures vision, knocks them back and summons a small horde of Common Ridden to attack. While this Death Explosion does not deal damage directly, the Reeker also has a basic melee attack that it will use to bait Cleaners to attack it and force the explosion to occur.
Upon death, the Reeker's body releases an explosion that covers nearby Cleaners in its entrails and attracts a small horde of Common Ridden to their location.

Strategy:[]

  • Maintain a safe distance away from it. While the Reeker can't do much damage on its own, its death explosion is the main threat it poses. Stay outside of the range of the Reeker before it explodes to avoid attracting a horde to your ooze-covered self. The moment that your team tags a Reeker, pin it down from afar to deny its approach.
    • Melee weapons, while effective at killing them, are ill-advised to use against a Reeker as the player will put themselves in proximity of the inevitable death explosion.
  • Maneuver the Charge: The Reeker's Charging ability is only in a straight line and can't go above/on top of obstacles. Moving to the left or right rather than the same direction of its path is most effective of dodging it, and quickly securing its demise while also avoiding the death explosion.
  • Target the weakspots. A distinct growth on its belly that presents a visible weak point. Keep shooting at them for an effective kill.

Notes:[]

  • Due to their appearance and abilities, all Reekers bear a striking resemblance to Boomers from the Left 4 Dead series. In contrast, Reekers are physically tougher than those stipulated above and can endure far more damage before exploding.
  • "Bloater" is the internal development name for Reekers and the whole family.
