Hoffman is equipped with four Makeshift Armor plates.
Makeshift Armor is a new item that has been introduced with the Tunnels of Terror expansion which adds another layer of protection to Cleaners.
The amount of armor plates a Cleaner has is visualized by an
-icon which is displayed next to the Health bar. A Cleaner can carry four Makeshift Armor plates at the same time.
Specification[]
Each armor plate prevents a single instance of damage exceeding 25 points of health after damage resistance calculation, with the exception of Common Ridden attacks and various damage over time effects. This includes most Mutations' attacks, including basic melee attacks of Reeker-Stinger-Sentinel family mutations, damage from environmental sources such as exploding cars/barrels and fall damage, Cave In boulders, and friendly fire damage. The excluded dot damage consists of acid, including Retch vomit, fire, Sleepers, Crushers,Breaker-spawnd swarm, and Swarmer remote controlled swarm.
The fact that the 25-point damage threshold is checked after damage resistance causes the protection to behave differently for each deck. For an example, a melee deck with high acid resistance will not likely be able to use armor against Exploders, while a player with high Warped Copper stacks will be able to trigger armor protection from Volatile Ridden explosions.
Due to the way Cursed Keys are implemented, armor will prevent death upon activation of its special effect, despite the user losing all extra lives and all stacks of Cursed Keys in their inventory.
Acquisition[]
There is a chance for armor pieces knocked off of Armored Ridden and Mutations to become Makeshift Armor if any of the following are true:
- Sharice is on the team
- A player with Sunder in their deck knocks off an armor piece with a melee weapon
- A player knocks off an armor piece with the Lockjaw rifle
Makeshift Armor can additionally be obtained from the following sources:
- Found across the map and in Supply Crates when Sharice is on the team
- Purchased from the Vendor in a Saferoom for 100
per piece - Any player plays the Squad Armor Burn Card
