| “ | I stocked half the fridges in that diner, damned if I'm going to let the Ridden take it.

Heng is one of the two playable Cleaners in Back 4 Blood who got introduced with Tunnels of Terror, the first expansion that has been released on April 12, 2022.
Official description[]
A survivalist at heart, Heng does what it takes to get the job done. The Cambodian refugee had a rough start in life but was determined to make the most of himself. He worked his way up from busboy to restaurateur, successfully operating several eateries in Evansburgh. Then the Collapse unraveled it all. Heng’s wife was killed during the initial outbreak, and in the ensuing chaos he was separated from his daughter. When the federal government failed to provide assistance, Heng ran supplies from his now defunct restaurants to help those in need. Seeing that things would only get worse unless the Ridden were rooted out, Heng joined the Cleaner crew at Fort Hope and reunited with his daughter, Chenda. While they don’t always see eye to eye, he is glad they are both there to fight back against the Ridden.[2]

Journal entry[]
Heng's journal entry has been shared on the Back 4 Blood 𝕏 account on March 24th, 2022.[3]
| “ | The Collapse wasn’t the first time I had to survive in a strange new world.
I remember the night I arrived in America. Just another Khmer who lost everything. The fields I escaped… I still can’t speak of it. Took a job at the first place that promised a hot meal and to turn a blind eye if I slept in the back. I met so many people with so many different ideas. Some pleasant, some not so much, but the most interesting people were the punks. They’d show up at my hole in the wall long after the clubs closed. Young and wild, they lived by their own rules. And after what I’d been through, I needed that. We’d party all night, and each bottle we passed around helped me leave the past behind. Over the decades I outgrew my studded belts, married, and had a daughter, but the memories we made–the importance of community–are tattooed on my brain. Us Cleaners stick together and help who we can. Just because the world ended doesn’t mean humanity went with it. There’s still hope. — Heng's journal |
