Christine Tuttle, who is primarily referred to as Mom, is one of the twelve playable Cleaners in Back 4 Blood. She is the tough and caring second-in-command of Fort Hope.
Official description[]
The only person surprised that Mom became the voice of survivors in Finleyville was herself. She's never shirked from a challenge and always puts the needs of others over her own. Still, for one who's used to bucking authority, her newfound responsibility sometimes weighs uneasily on her. Although she has faith in her Cleaners, Mom has questioned other leaders' strategies on more than one occasion, especially since the death of her son. Mom's goal is simple, make the Ridden pay.[2]

Appearance[]
Christine's head is covered with a red headscarf featuring a simple flower pattern. Her gray hair is neatly braided into two plaits hanging on each side of her face. Sizeable silver earrings dangle from each ear.
Moving down to her upper body, she wears a charcoal long-sleeved shirt beneath an olive green army jacket. A noticeable "Old School" patch is stitched on the right front. Three button pins on the right breast pocket include one with the letters R I D E and a skull with 86, another with a flame and the words "Ride" and "Dead," and a third displaying a white motorcycle on a yellow background with "Penn State Riders" and Turtle Rock Studios.
On the left breast pocket, two khaki patches overlap—one forming a T-shape with the word "TEAM" and two blue stars, and the other bearing the red-lettered label "Funk." The left sleeve carries three distinctive patches—a skull with an eye patch, a white one with the number "73" below, and a petite red star-shaped patch. Adding a personal touch, she wears four silver rings on her left hand, with only her ring finger remaining bare.
Strapped to her back is a charcoal gray rucksack with brown leather straps, and a torch hangs from the right shoulder strap. A leather belt encircles her waist, featuring a holster on her right hip.
Descending to her lower body, Christine wears dark blue denim trousers with the cuffs turned up. A combat knife is strapped to her left shin. Completing her look, she strides confidently in brown leather boots.
Developer comments[]
In the video "Back 4 Blood - Breakdown of All 8 Playable Characters (Meet the Cleaners)"[3] by media news outlet IGN lead writer Simon Mackenzie and co-founder and creative director Phil Robb at Turtle Rock Studios did a breakdown of all eight playable Cleaners in Back 4 Blood.
The following quotes are shortened versions of the comments they've made about Christine's character:
| “ | Mom is actually second in command at Fort Hope. She's a very strong personality. She was a very strong personality in our local areas where we built up the lore. And it's like the military characters [e. g. Walker] that we have and she kind of represents the civilians and because of her strong personality and "No shit."-attitude, the civilians kind of look to her to be their voice. — Simon Mackenzie, Lead Writer at Turtle Rock Studios |
„ |
| “ | She's definitely a character that has a "seen that, done that"-attitude. She's done a lot of stuff in her life. And not all of it I would say would be mainstream - she's kind of almost a counter-culture type of character. — Phil Robb, Co-Founder/Creative Director at Turtle Rock Studios |
„ |
| “ | It's started off like a friend of mine called "Crazy" who's like a biker and kind of midwest tattoo artist and who had a very interesting life. That was the starting point and I built on that. I really wanted that kind of character represented not in the way it's usually represented in video games. Like sort of a bad person but someone who's there. Who does care about the community and represents that voice. — Simon Mackenzie, Lead Writer at Turtle Rock Studios |

In the recent "Turtle Rock Studios Back 4 Blood Art Blast"[4] on artstation.com character concept artist Gue Yang shared information about the design of Christine's appeareance.
| “ | Mom initially was meant to be more of a Hell's Angle biker like design, she also had tons of hair styles during concepting.

Journal entry[]
Christine's journal entry has been shared on the Back 4 Blood 𝕏 account on May 26th, 2021.[5]
| “ | I'm not one to dwell on things, but sometimes I miss the "before." My tattoo parlor, for sure, but mainly that time with my son. I never realized how precious it was until the Collapse.
We survived 6 months together after everything went to shit and if it weren't for Phillips sending him on that mission with Ren...Jason would still be here with me now. I thank the Lord I had Doc to help me keep it together in the days following... Now I'm everyone's "Mom" and I'm going to do my darndest to make sure no one else suffers my son's fate. — Christine's journal |
