Burn Cards, introduced as an additional card type in conjunction with the Active cards available to Cleaners, made their debut through the December 2021 Patch (Patch 1.04). These cards can be procured via Duffel Bags, Roving Merchants Supply Lines, or The Collectors Skull Totem track. When strategically played within the confines of Saferooms in either the Campaign or Trial of the Worm game mode, Burn Cards bestow temporary effects such as instant healing, currency boosts, enhanced resistances, and more. A carefully curated selection of 27 distinct Burn Cards has been crafted, each designed with precision to shift the balance in favor of the Cleaners during encounters with the Ridden.
Once a Burn Card is played, its choice becomes immutable, barring players from altering their selection. Furthermore, in the event of a Mission retry using the continue option, players who have previously employed a Burn Card within that level are disqualified from playing another. Notably, Patch 1.07 raised the initial cap of 99 per Burn Card to a generous 999, providing players with the flexibility to amass a greater number of cards in their Deck Manager.
On May 27, 2022, Turtle Rock Studios teased players with a tantalizing video preview on their official 𝕏 account, showcasing six upcoming Burn Cards.[1] Building on this anticipation, another set of six Burn Cards was unveiled on May 31, 2022, culminating in a total of 12 fresh additions introduced through Patch 1.09, officially launched on June 7, 2022.[2] The subsequent Patch 1.10 seamlessly introduced yet another Burn Card: [[Dusty's Customs: Melee Weapon].
