Active cards is a part of "roguelike" card system featured in Back 4 Blood.

Active cards allow the player to pick various special perks which can be broken up into four distinctive categories called:

  • "Reflex" Reflex card affinity (blue)
  • "Discipline" Discipline card affinity(red)
  • "Brawn" Brawn card affinity (green)
  • "Fortune" Fortune card affinity (yellow)

The player should choose active cards wisely to counter corruption cards picked by the Director to counter them.

Players start the campaign with all 15 cards they pick for their deck. Players will find some active cards across the levels; generic player cards are free, however, normal player cards cost 500 copper. Depending on the part of the Act a player is on, they will be granted Catch-up cards. Catch-up cards are only generic cards.
